New West Ham Painting - Member's first look.

Probably The Best Free Kick in The World is a depiction of the moment before Dimitri Payet's famous Free Kick at Upton Park, against Crystal Palace.

People at this match may have noticed a strategic Carlsberg Ad on the screen, as it approached half time, as Payet curled his free kick into the top corner. This a piece born out of my love of Upton Park and my long history in Beer advertising.

This piece is available as a 30"x15" Canvas Print - my first panoramic print. Because of the size and ratio however, overseas collectors are advised to contact the studio for options.

This could be my own personal version of New Order's 'Blue Monday' on 12inch. A format that is a disaster in terms of remunerating the studio - but necessary to capture the artistic element of the project.

This was a bit of a painful piece to paint. I grossly underestimated the studio time necessary to undertake the project. By the time the brush was in my hand, I suddenly reconsidered what was the subject, Was it the players? The Stadium? or was it the crowd?

Often, player portraits include a good percentage of the canvas displaying an 'out-of-focus' abstract background, briging the subject to the fore. This painting however, even had the block of flats in the background as a 'hero'. Everything matters when it is Upton Park, it's all memories, and they all count.
